Bead board directly over tile-- how practical

Question:
I've recently bought a house that too big, too old (1914) amd with too many projects. My great master bathroom reno must wait... but it's awfull, covered in bad tile.

I was thinking of putting up wainscot beadboard and obviously would have to use adhesive. Nailing not an option. It's a small space, one 8 ft run, other walls shorter. I have a question about whether I can use adhesive on the base trim.

Also, relative to above, my floor tile has a serious crack, settling. After leveling how easy would it be to float Pergo-type flooring. total floor area approx 5X9 ft.

Answer:
If you clean the tile exceptionally well, you should be able to use construction adhesive to attach the beadboard directly to it. If there is a base tile trim that sticks out, and you can't easily remove it, trim the back of the beadboard to fit over it. The best way to do this is to lay out about ten pieces of beadboard face-down side-by-side, clamp them to the work surface, and cut away as required with a router.

Not clear what sort of base trim you are planning to install, but you can probably use adhesive on it as well, with a few small nails to hold it while the adhesive sets. Be carefull not to get adhesive on the face of the beadboard.
