Question:
My dh is going to be in LA for a few days (at 2 days notice!!! - we are in
New Zealand); anyway I am wondering if there are any good bead stores i can
send him to especially in the vicinity of the airport. My particular need
at the moment is for Japanese seeds, but any good store/wholesale place
would be great to know about.
Have been thinking of you all especially over the last couple of days.
Don't get to post much but dip in to read (as much as i can of) my bead
buddies news every few days.
Answer:
-Bergers Beads and Bohemian Crystal-- the first has been around forever and a
day, the second not as long, but still well established and reputedly somewhat
cheaper. Both are downtown, though (in the garment district-- just in case you
also have a thing for fabrics, trims, etc).
-Oh thanks Kaytee. He's on his way there now - and awaiting instructions!!!
I had a look at your pieces on e b for the first time - wow! Specially the
sea critter and the silver and peridot amulet. My daughter (12) was in awe
of the sea critter necklace; she is wild about blue, but also has
surprisingly sophisticated tastes for 'things well done'. And 'in the
money' must always be good for a chuckle..
Anyway, thanks again
-The "sea critter" is by Schermo (Ann Baldwin)-- it was one of her earlier ones.
I have another one for a similar necklace that is going to be mine... She
should still have them for sale-- and she seems to like "sea colors", so there
should be plenty of blues and combos with blue. (www.schermobeads.com) She has
a neat section on making lampwork, and also one on "wonky beads".
The silver/peridot bag is wire crochet-- just single crochet, with a chip or
bead in each stitch.
