Question:
What are Delica beeds? Are they smaller then seed beads?
Answer:
-google says: Japanese seed beads made of precisely cut glass, making
them uniform in shape and size and color. They have large holes compared
to their diameter.
-You can get seed beads and cylinder beads (ie. Delicas, Toho Antiques)
in similar sizes - 11, 8, etc. Some sizes are only available in seed beads.

I have found that 11/0 cylinder beads (like Delicas) are much smaller,
about 2/3 the size of 11/0 seed beads. Cylinders and seeds can't be used
together if you expect the finished piece to be smooth, flat and regular.
I don't get why they are given the same size number if they are not, in
fact, the same size.
-Delicas are shaped like little cans (straight sides). Seed beads are shaped
like little doughnuts.
-The large hole is very important because when you do a few passes
through a czech seed bead your thread will become stuck it the small
holes. Hardly ever happens with delicas. Also because the delica
proportion is closer to being equal in width and height, it's better
for representational patterns. A pattern done in czech seed beads,
which are more like twice as wide as they are tall, will often look
distorted unless the pattern was made for them.
I use delicas for weaving and seed beads for strung parts like fringe
and for bead embroidery. Most often I buy the Japanese seed beads
rather than Czech but the Czech beads are getting better lately.
-Which is best for beaded necklaces? What I am interested in is small
beads in a variety of colors that can be used to fill in between more
intricate and interesting beeds. Around the size of pomegranite pits
