What, if any, are the advantages/disadvantages of kevlar vs wire bead tires?
Answer:
Kevlar advantages:
+ slightly lighter
+ foldable
Kevlar disadvantages:
- more expensive
Those are the only ones I can think of.
You can fold a kevlar beaded tire for easy packing as a spare. Kevlar beaded
tires also weigh less.
Foldable can also be a disadvantage, as it's harder to mount the tire
because it likes to flop around so much. I think it's a marketing
thing-- the tires in the boxes look cooler, take up less space on the
shelf, and look fatter because they're squashed flat.
