Beading Wooden Beads

Question:
Dear friends, I have a bunch of large wooden beads from a bosses bag I got from FireMountain. It seems a shame to waste these beads, so I would like to try and bead them with glass seed beads. Can anyone suggest the best way to do this? I could glue them on, but I would love to "bead around the bead" if that makes any sense. Any ideas would be appreciated.

And yes, I am a tree hugger. Hate to waste anything that can be recycled or reused. Feel free to laugh at me! It wouldn't be the first or last time!LOL!

Answer:
-If you check the Bead and Button magazine web site, in their projects page, there shoud be instructions there.

Basically, you'll be doing gourd stitch around the bead. The effects can be quite stunning!

-That's what I've been doing with some wooden beads that were given to me, covering them in beads. I peyote stitch mine. I wrap the middle of the bead with some very soft and thin leather, (both stitching and paper gluing it into to place). I start my first row on the beads, I guess you could do the first few rows off the bead, then force the piece onto it. Set my pattern, then decrease when need, until your at the top. Turn around and do the other side. I've made a couple of items using the beads...have to get them posted.

Since I started doing these beaded beads, I was thumbing through the new Fire Mountain Gems Catalog and there they had beaded beads for sale. Of course, they are imported and massed produced so quality really isn't there. It appears that they wrapped the bead and then stitched the beads in vertical rows, around the bead using silverlined Big Beads, probably a size 10 or more.
